740,000 mu afforested in Tibet in 2009


Over 740,000 mu area has been afforested in Tibet last year with an increase of 62.9% with a total investment of 1.06 billion yuan for the forest project.


The regional government has waged an environment campaign to plant trees along major rivers, return farmlands to forests, and carry on the related Natural Forest Conservation Projects, which help the farmers and herdsmen increase 0.65 billion yuan and receive forestry output value of 0.96 billion yuan.


This year, Tibet will focus on deepening forest property rights system reform, promote the key forestry projects and ensure the security of forestry resources.
