Social relief stations in Tibet helpful

Up to now, the Tibet Autonomous Region boasts 47 social relief stations, all of which lie in mountain areas. The stations have helped many people out of the woods and they are dubbed as windows of Tibet. Appreciated, people from around China and even abroad have sent them thousands of thanks letters and the one located at the Nyalam highway section has received most such letters.

With funds allocated from the Highway Administration Bureau of Tibet Traffic Department and other units, the social relief stations offer help such as providing medicine, boiled water as well as quilts and repairing cars.

In 2009, 2,567 people and 702 cars have been helped by the social relief stations with the cost of about 1.456 million yuan.
