Tibet's wasteland turned into breadbasket
Since 2010, Sangri County of Lhoka prefecture in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region has invested 8 million yuan in opening up wasteland to develop new agricultural zone.
Zhuitangba, once a remote village, now has become a new agricultural base with over 30,000 walnut trees and 10,000 polar trees. Altogether 700 mu(about 47 hectares) of pea, 100 mu (about 7 hectares)of rapeseed, 100 mu of buckwheat and 100 mu of potatoes will be planted in this area soon.
