Day 1 Arrive in Lhasa, pickup service. stay at Lhasa

Day 4 Lhasa- Gyantse via Yamdrok lake, visit Gyantse Kumbum then drive on to Shigatse

Day 6 A 8km detour to EBC! then drive Rongbuk to Shigatse for night

Day 7 Drive Shigatse to Lhasa

Detailed Itinerary:


Day 01 Arrival in Lhasa by air or train

Once you arrive at Gonggar airport or Lhasa Train Station, an easy one hour or half hour drive will take you to your final destination of the traditional hotels (Shangbala Hotel, Dhood Gu Hotel or Yak Hotel, etc) or guesthouses. The remainder of the day can be spent relaxing and exploring some of the many sights in Lhasa.


Day 02 Visit Jorkhang Temple, Barkhor Street, Sera Monastery in Lhasa

On this second day morning we will take an easy visit to Jokhang Temple. This temple is the most revered shrine in all of Tibet and is constantly bustling with devout worshippers. We will also be given the opportunity to shop in Barkor, the crowded central market of Lhasa. In the afternoon we will visit is Sera Monastery, a fifteenth century sprawl of golden roofs and whitewashed walls. This well preserved monastery is located just a few miles north of Lhasa and is home to several hundred monks. Its famous debating activities are happening 3-4 pm quite regularly, so remind our guide not to miss it.


Day 03 Visit Potala Palace, Drepung Monastery in Lhasa

A trip to Tibet would not be complete without experiencing the vital Potala Palace. This palace is Lhasa's cardinal landmark and is a wonder of eastern architecture. Your first site of this massive structure will be a magical moment remembered for years to come. It has been a palace since the fifth or sixth century and was once home to the Dalai Lama. This truly amazing day will ended with a visit to the Drepung Monastery. Once the world's largest monastery, housing 10,000 monks, drepung monastery lies hidden in rocky ridges just beyond the city. Surprisingly much of the building was left untouched throughout so many hundreds of years.


Day 04 Lhasa - Gyantse [3950m] - Shigatse [3900m]

In the morning drive to Gyantse along the Kyichu River. On the Kamba La (4.796 m) have a fantastic view of the holy Lake Yamdrok, one of the three holy lakes in Tibet and the largest habitat of waterfowls in south Tibet. Then continue to Gyantse, you can enjoy ningjinkangsang snow mountain and Karola Glacier from a distance on the way as well. Upon arrival in Gyantse, have a stop in Palkhor Temple for around one hour, if you would like to have a visit (self-paid), you could go and the guide will be with you. If you don’t, you could stroll in this ancient town at leisure. After that, continue to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet, have the view of the famous fertile farmers’ land.


Day 05 Shigatse [3900m] - Tingri [4390m] – EBC [5200m]

In the morning the guide takes about some time to issue the group the second travel permit (psb) or the guide may do it on the arrival day if time permit. the psb permit is a must travel document for the visit to Mt. Everest. Then visit Tashilumpu Monastery. After the visit, drive further in to the mountains to get to Mt. Everest Base Camp via Tingri. The road condition to the Base Camp is rough; stay overnight at Rongbuk Guesthouse, the accommodation tonight is a little simple.


Day 6 A 8km detour to EBC! then drive Rongbuk to Shigatse for night

This morning is the highlight of the trip heading to Everest Base Camp, we will take a local bus to cover this 8 km distance to reach Everest Base Camp, or you can even walk to EBC. The views of Everest from so close make the mountain seem even more impressive than before. It is a truly breath taking experience to stare up at the sheer north face of this highest mountain in the world. Mount Everest towers above you in a looming yet magical way.

After that we will get back on the friendship highway and drive back to Shigatse for night


Day 7 Drive Shigatse to Lhasa

A pleasant driving journey will take you back to Lhasa, we will easily cover 280km in 6 hours. The rest of the day can be used to explore the old city again, or you can shopping around Barkhor Bazar, don’t forget bargain with the merchants.


Day 8 Lhasa- Airport send off for you

Your guide and driver with the private vehicle will see you off to the Lhasa Train Station or Lhasa Gongkhar Airport, your Tibet tour with our agency ends.
